Digital Substation Communication Network Solution

1. Overview:

The digital substation consists of primary equipment, secondary equipment, and communication monitoring equipment. The entire system forms a three-layer device and two-layer network structure. The primary equipment is intelligent, adopting digital output electronic transformers, intelligent switches (or traditional switches with intelligent terminals), and other intelligent primary devices. These use standard information interfaces to integrate intelligent primary equipment technologies such as condition monitoring, measurement and control protection, and information communication. Secondary equipment is networked: communication networks are used between secondary devices to exchange analog quantities, switch quantities, and control commands, eliminating control cables.

 

2. Solution Topology:

 

 

Ø Solution features: This solution complies with the IEC61850 protocol and adopts dual-network communication with a star network redundancy, greatly improving communication network reliability and achieving real-time high-efficiency communication. Optical fiber is used as the communication medium, ensuring communication security, stability, and anti-interference capability. Meanwhile, the bandwidth of optical fiber is far greater than ordinary cables, capable of handling high-volume data communication in substations.

Ø Networking methods: SV networking and GOOSE networking, both transmitted through switches (GOOSE data volume is small, SV data is shared across the entire network).

Ø Network structure: Dual-star redundant network, with independent A and B networks to enhance network reliability and security.

Ø Different ports are used for SV and GOOSE between switches, and data transmission through three or more switches is not allowed (not recommended).

Ø Time synchronization method: SNTP (Simple Network Time Protocol).
